What’s your story?
Everybody has one and every one’s been written. So how do you figure out what you have to say and make it matter to a reader?
This is the stuff of Memoir 101: Beyond Self-Absorption, previously taught only at The San Francisco Writer’s Grotto but now also in Nevada County. We’ll burrow ‘til we find the universal in your particulars. We’ll begin to discover your story and hone your voice. It will be messy sometimes. It will be hard. Sometimes it will be embarrassing, but only for a minute. It will often be fun. Courage is the only prerequisite.
Instructor Heather Donahue published her memoir Growgirl with Gotham/Penguin earlier this year. She has written for Los Angeles Magazine, The Huffington Post, Bust, The Orange Coast Review and more. She has led workshops at the Center for the Arts and See Jane Do’s Passion Into Action Conference. Heather has participated in the Squaw Valley Community of Writers and she works and teaches at the San Francisco Writer’s Grotto. She is also available for private coaching.
The class will take place over six Tuesdays from 6:30-9:00 starting November 6th. The class is $385 at the Writer’s Grotto, but NC is a special place, so there’s a special price: $250. Don’t tell the SF students, okay? This is between us.
